On the heels of America’s Favorite Governor Gavin Newsom vetoing California Menopause Care Equity Act (AB 432), Hally Berry came out of retirement to throw hands:
“The way [Gavin Newsom] has overlooked women, half the population, by devaluing us, he probably should not be our next president either. Just saying,”, Halle said.
She Mad
It would make sense for her to be big mad, considering the fact that in 2020, Berry founded Respin Health, a wellness brand that she relaunched in 2025 as a fully menopause-focused platform. Respin offers holistic, tech-driven menopause care – featuring AI-powered symptom tracking, personalized coaching, and community support – all aimed at helping women navigate midlife changes (source).
So it makes sense that she would be upset, after all, her company is positioned to rake in fat stacks from growing demand for menopause solutions.
California Menopause Care Equity Act (AB 432) would have:
- Expanded insurance coverage for menopause-related evaluation and treatment. This means women would get better insurance reimbursement for managing menopause symptoms. (source)
- Incentivized doctors to pursue specialized training in menopause care. The bill proposed rewards for physicians who completed continuing education on perimenopause and postmenopausal treatment. (source)
Given that there is a huge financial incentive behind Berry’s crusade for menopause ($600B source). Since the bill would include incentive for training and insurance coverage, it would literally inject millions into her own business. By publicly throwing hands with Newsom, she is basically lobbying for a policy change that would inject a ton of cash into her own business. So, what’s the deal here?
Is she a crusader for public good around menopause? Or is she a celebrity entrepeneur on a crusade to pass legislation to enrich her own company?
